AfDB, OFID Back Sierra Leone's Water Project

The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries’ Fund for International Development and African Development Bank are providing $62 million to help rebuild three water stations in Sierra Leone, the head of the country’s leading water company said on Tuesday (March 29).

The sum specifically includes $42 million from AfDB and $20 million from OFID, Victor Hastings-Spaine, acting director-general of the Sierra Leone Water Co., told Agence France-Presse.

The project seeks to establish sustainable water systems in the cities of Bo, Kenema and Makeni over the next three years.
