The African Development Bank is drawing up an ”Africa Green Growth Strategy“ that aims to foster sustainable and equitable global economic growth alongside environment protection. The draft strategy will be presented at regional stakeholders’ workshops in August and September. A pilot action plan covering five strategic pilot projects on technology transfer of renewable energy, as well as political, institutional and regulatory frameworks for green economy measures will then be established.“Sustainability thinking is the need of the hour and more important than ever, a collective response of everyone, particularly the international community to rapid climate change is an imperative requirement,” said AfDB’s sustainable development, climate change and gender unit head, Anthony Nyong.
