UNHCR is holding talks in Afghanistan aimed at mobilizing support for the sustained return and reintegration of Afghan refugees. UNHCR is co-chairing a conference with Afghanistan’s foreign minister. An estimated five million Afghans have returned home since the fall of the Taliban in 2001, under the UNHCR’s biggest repatriation operation. But some three million Afghan refugees still remain in Pakistan and Iran.
