Africa Lags Behind on Poverty Reduction MDG

    All continents are on track to fulfill the United Nations Millennium Development Goal of reducing poverty by half by 2015 - all except Africa, where poverty and unemployment is rising because of the current global economic condition, a new report from the U.N. Economic Commission for Africa stated, Reuters reports. ECA Executive Secretary Abdoulie Janneh explained that the global crisis affected Africa’s growth and heightened the impact of the fuel and food crisis that also recently hit various regions of the world.
