Africa needs more money to combat climate change

Experts say that Africa is in great need of increased donor funding to help it adapt effectively to climate change and to protect millions of Africans from the damage that the phenomenon is expected to cause. During the conference titled as “A Conference of International Solidarity on Climate Change,” it was pointed out that rich nations have given more support to large developing countries like India and China in cutting greenhouse gases, but that Africa hasn’t received as enthusiastic a response from the international community. “Governments and donors should mobilize the necessary funds for the sustainable management of natural ecosystems and agriculture,” said a statement released after the three-day gathering, adding that donors should “ensure coordination, harmonization and simplification of the procedures applied when granting funds.” (Source: Africa needs more cash to fight climate change/Reuters)
