Aid Mapping Plan Unveiled

Development Gateway, a global nonprofit promoting transparency and accessibility of development aid information, is collaborating with geographic information technology firm Esri to develop mapping tools for development projects.

“There is a huge amount of information on international aid available to the public online. But if you really want to understand what donors are doing, seeing the locations of aid activities on a map is very powerful,” Nancy Choi, director of products and operations at Development Gateway, said in an April 14 statement.

She added: “Working with Esri, we intend to make aid information more visual, so that it’s easier for decision makers and the general public to access and understand.”

The two organizations may also extend their collaboration to develop new mapping interfaces for Development Gateway’s Aid Management Platform, a virtual workspace for governments and their development partners.
