Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner called for the reformulation of multilateral organizations on Sept. 23, including the United Nations and global financial institutions. The current global financial turmoil was evidence of the need for reforming financial institutions, Fernandez de Kirchner said, citing what she called the “jazz effect” for the present troubles originating from the United States, just as an earlier financial crisis that started in Mexico but affected the world economy was called the “tequila effect.” (UN News Service)
