Australia Supports UN Cash-for-Work Program in Haiti

Australia is donating 2.5 million Australian dollars (USD2.2 million) to the United Nations Development Program’s cash-for-work initiative in Haiti, which provides earthquake victims with short-term paid employment. This assistance is part of the 15 million Australian dollar Haiti aid package pledged by the government in January. Australia also contributed 2 million Australian dollars to a UNDP program that aims to reduce the impact of natural disasters, prevent armed conflicts and assist in crises recovery.
