Australian International Development Secretary Announces Retirement

Australian Parliament Secretary for International Development Assistance Bob McMullan has announced his nearing retirement, following his decision not to run for the country's next parliamentary election. McMullan will continue serving his post until such election.

"I have concluded that I can make my best contribution to those issues to which I have dedicated my adult life by moving on while I am still fit, healthy and able to meet a new challenge," McMullan said in a statement.

He plans to focus on global poverty and global economic development, he noted.
