Toby Lanzer is deputy special representative of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, as well as resident and humanitarian coordinator for the U.N. Development Program in the country. Lanzer has occupied several positions within the world body since he joined UNDP in 1992. He has extensive experience in development, humanitarian affairs and peacekeeping.
As South Sudan celebrates the second anniversary of its independence, the country is still a long way from achieving its development goals.
