Police in Bangladesh have arrested nearly 30 students following a gun battle on Feb. 16 at one of the country's leading universities. Witnesses say about 500 people took part in the fight at Jahangirnagar University, on the outskirts of Dhaka. The violence involved two rival factions of the Chhatra League, the student wing of the Awami League party which won the recent general election. There have been similar recent clashes at half a dozen main universities. The BBC Dhaka correspondent says the problem is starting to damage the governing party's reputation. (BBC)
