Bangladesh Eyes Japanese Aid for Bridge Project

    Bangladesh is close to securing financial assistance from Japan for the construction of a key bridge that will connect Bangladesh’s capital city of Dhaka to the southern part of the country, a senior Bangladeshi official says.  

    “We expect to finalise Japanese assistance for the Padma bridge during the prime minister’s [Sheikh Hasina] forthcoming visit [to Japan],” said Dipu Moni, Bangladesh’s foreign minister, as quoted by

    Hasina is due to visit Japan starting Nov. 28.
