The Asian Development Bank is assisting Bangladesh’s good governance program through the provision of a USD150 million loan. The loan is intended to assist the country’s anti-corruption, judicial reform and institutional strengthening efforts. “According to surveys conducted by various organizations, corruption adversely impacts not only the economy at the macro level but also individuals and households at the micro level,” said ADB country representative Du Hua. ADB’s total loans to Bangladesh have amounted to USD8.76 billion since the country became a member in 1973.
