Bangladesh Secures More than USD1B Foreign Aid

Bangladesh received USD1.83 billion worth of foreign aid from July 2009 to July 2010, according to a senior government official.

The total represents an approximately 17 percent increase in foreign aid disbursements to Bangladesh compared to the aid it received within the same period from 2008 to 2009.

“Total amount of foreign aid disbursement in the current fiscal year is expected to set a new record, surpassing the previous high in a year in 2007-08 fiscal year (July 2007-June 2008),” a senior official of Bangladesh’s Economic Relations Department said as quoted by the Pakistan Observer.
