Bangladesh to receive World Bank budget support

Bangladesh is assured of USD320 million in aid from the World Bank to support its budget this financial year and finance projects in the power sector. The sum comprises USD200 million to enable the country to recover from the devastation of Cyclone Sidr and cope with rising food and oil prices, and USD120 million to fill the electricity supply deficit. Today, Bangladesh can only produce 4,000 of the required 5,500 megawatts.
