Barbadian Prime Minister David Thompson has succumbed to pancreatic cancer, which he has been battling for months. He died in his residence on Saturday (Oct. 23). Freundel Stuart, Thompson’s attorney general and deputy, was sworn in on the same day, according to Reuters. He was appointed by Barbados’ Governor General Clifford Husbands after being nominated to the post by local lawmakers.
