Improving social protection does not only mitigate economic shocks but also promote human capital development through increasing access to education and health care, Asian Development Bank President Haruhiko Kuroda said in a seminar.
The ADB event, called “Promoting Inclusive Growth through Social Protection,” highlights how social welfare initiatives can lessen the impact of economic slowdown, disease and natural calamities. Its roster of expert panelists delved on the recent financial crisis as concrete example and the critical role played by social protection-oriented policies.
