Britain to review World Bank funding threat

Britain is planning to reconsider its threat to withhold a $94 million contribution to the World Bank next year. U.K. Development Secretary Hilary Benn made the announcement after the agency’s top policy-planning group promised better delivery of aid to developing nations. In 2005, Britain pledged to provide $2.4 billion to the International Development Association. It promised to issue another $94 million so long as the World Bank would remove some conditions attached to aid. (Source: Britain May Relent on World Bank Funds/The Associated Press)
