Bush approves $24M for refugees in Iraq, Lebanon, Sri Lanka



President George W. Bush has given the thumbs-up for the release of $24 million for people fleeing the turmoil in Iraq, Lebanon, and Sri Lanka. The money from the United States Emergency Refugee and Migration Assistance Fund was pooled together “for the purpose of meeting unexpected and urgent refugee and migration needs.” According to a memorandum released on Monday, the funds were for international, governmental and non-government organizations, and the administrative expenses of the State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration. The amount is also expected to address humanitarian needs rooted in conflicts in Lebanon, Sri Lanks, and Iraq.
