Bush pledges $190M for Palestinians

After calling for a Middle East peace conference, U.S. President George W. Bush committed a new aid package of $190 million for the Palestinians. The announcement bore out an earlier report stating that the funding will exceed the $86 million that the White House is seeking from Congress. The Bush administration said it will also provide $40 million to support United Nations operations benefiting Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
