Canadian Minister for Foreign Affairs Lawrence Cannon recently met with Russian Minister for Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov and Presidential Representative for International Cooperation in the Arctic and Antarctic Artur Chilingarov for bilateral talks that focused primarily on Canadian and Russian advancements in the Arctic region, including on Arctic mapping and Canada’s recent release of its Arctic foreign policy. The parties also discussed various issues concerning the G-8 ahead of a planned meeting of the group’s foreign ministers in New York later this month.
