Caribbean Eyes 2011 Unveiling of Draft ICT Strategy

The Caribbean’s draft information and communication technology strategy is expected to be unveiled at the annual summit of the Caribbean Community, or CARICOM, next year.

The strategy, which is due to be launched in July, “will help the Caribbean transform itself into an information society” particularly in the labor market, Ken Sylvester, chair of the committee tasked with drafting the new strategy, told IPS.

“We have developed a plan which is available to any country that wishes to utilise it in implementing technology for development,” said Sylvester, as quoted by IPS.

The European Union and other donors have been financing the initiative.
