The United Nations Security Council conducted close consultations on downsizing the U.N. peacekeeping mission in Chad following the government’s appeal to pull out the military component of the mission. The U.N. mission is instrumental in providing security and extra logistical capacity, including medical evacuations in the African nation, U.N. humanitarian chief John Holmes said.
