Gornitzka previously served as assistant secretary general of the Red Cross, director of Save the Children Sweden and secretary general of the International Save the Children Alliance.
Last month, Sida started employing a revamped organizational structure that uses a “classical structure” of nine departments directly under the office of the director general.
