China is now the world’s second-largest economy, overtaking Japan, which has held on the position for the past 40 years. China’s gross domestic product reached USD5.79 billion in 2010 while Japan’s nominal GDB for the same year was USD5.47, the Guardian reports, citing figures released by the Japanese government.
