China’s $15B commitment to Latin America

China is ready to support roads, ports and railways projects in Latin America, according to Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao.

Wen reportedly announced the commitment during a U.N. economic conference June 26 in Chile.

He said China Development Bank will provide $10 billion for infrastructure projects in the region. China will also put $5 billion in a cooperation fund that will invest in manufacturing, technology innovation and sustainable development.
