Clinton to Boost US Foreign Aid Schemes

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton vowed to reinforce American foreign aid and development programs,

"I believe in development and I believe with all my heart that it truly is an equal partner, along with defense and diplomacy, in the furtherance of America's national security," Clinton told some 1,000 employees of the U.S. Agency for International Development, which is tasked to oversee most non-military U.S. foreign aid and works in the areas of humanitarian assistance, poverty reduction, HIV/AIDS prevention, and post-war reconstruction and stabilization. "We are asking you to do more and more with less, and my goal is to make sure we match the mission and the resources," Clinton added.
