Clinton to Testify on 2011 Foreign Affairs Budget

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is scheduled to testify next week before Congress on the Obama administration’s 2011 budget proposal for international affairs. The hearing before the House Committee on Foreign Affairs is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 25, and carries the title “Promoting security through diplomacy and development” - a slogan the administration has been using to drum up support for efforts to increase its foreign affairs budget.

This will be Clinton’s first congressional testimony on the 2011 budget. A Feb. 10 appearance before the House Appropriations subcommittee on State, foreign operations, and related programs was canceled due to severe snow storms in the Washington area.
