The U.S. government has condemned Ivorian leader Laurent Gbagbo’s violent attacks against civilians. It called for “an immediate end” to the aggression and pledged continued assistance to victims of violence in the country. Gbagbo refuses to hand over power to Alassane Ouattara, the United Nations-backed winner of November’s presidential polls.
