The Inter-American Development Bank will be holding its 53rd Board of Governors’ annual meeting March 16-19 in Montevideo, Uruguay. Concurrently, the Inter-American Investment Corp. will be having its 27th annual Board of Governors’ meeting in the same venue.
To kick off the meetings, IDB and the government of Uruguay will hold on March 15 a cultural and sports event recognizing the youth’s contributions to sustainable growth in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Among the topics that will be discussed at the meetings are the economic crisis in Europe, public-private partnerships’ role in infrastructure development, climate change, South-South cooperation and jobs creation for the youth. A new online platform where results of IDB-financed projects in Latin America and the Caribbean are posted will be launched as well.
The program of activities for the duration of the meetings can be viewed online.
More than 3,000 representatives from the private sector, development agencies and multilateral banks are expected to participate, including Asian Development Bank President Haruhiko Kuroda and World Bank Vice President for Latin America and the Caribbean Hasan Tuluy.
