The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation will implement several development and humanitarian projects in the Middle East as part of its development strategy over the next few years.
It will support actions that will strengthen the disaster risk reduction capacity and assist Palestinian refugees in Jordan, Syria and Lebanon.
In addition, it will fund various development initiatives in the above mentioned countries including Egypt and support Iraqi, Jordanian, Syrian and Lebanese civilians affected by the crisis in Iraq.

The 2009 allocations for these activities amounts to about 17 million Swiss francs (US$14 million).
