Donors Boost Microfinance in Latin America, Caribbean

    A group of donors have signed an agreement to

    in loans to microfinance companies in Latin America and the Caribbean. The Inter-American Development Bank, U.S. Overseas Private Investment Corp., Inter-American Investment Corp., and a Swiss microfinance company will create the Microfinance Growth Facility to boost the lending capacity of the region's microfinance institutions, which suffered funding shortfalls following the global financial crisis.
