EC Outlines Programs for Malaysia

Forestry, agriculture, and the services sector are the priorities of the European Commission strategy in Malaysia for the 2007-2010 programming cycle, an EC delegation officer told Devex.

Half of the funding, about 8 million euros, will support forestry management while the services sector liberalization program and the fisheries-farming initiative will each receive 2 million euros. All three programs are still in the formulation phase and are slated for implementation sometime in 2010.

The project approach is being employed in these initiatives, with the commission serving as the contracting authority for procurements.
