EC to Fund Railway Transport Initiatives in Slovakia

The European Commission plans to improve railway infrastructure in Slovakia through its 2007-2013 Cohesion Policy.

A senior official at Slovakia's Ministry of Transport, Telecommunications and Posts told Devex Early Intelligence that the commission will support the modernization of railways, enhancement of intermodal transport infrastructure and improve the infrastructure of integrated transport systems.

The commission has set aside an indicative 1.3 billion euros (US$1.8 billion) to finance the activities for 2007-2013.
