EC to Partner with Eastern European Neighbors

The European Commission is funding various projects to strengthen partnerships with its Eastern European neighbors.

The commission's support is channeled through the European Neighborhood and Partnership Instrument. An indicative 223.5 million euros (US$353 million) has been set aside to finance the ENPI activities for 2007-2010.

A senior EC official told Devex Early Intelligence that the commission will fund efforts related to environmental protection, anti-land mines, and migration. It will also support civil society initiatives and strengthen information management and knowledge exchange in the region.
