Ecuador’s capital city, Quito, will remain on high alert indefinitely to allow the country’s military forces to continue guarding Congress and patrol certain areas of the city. The city was first placed on high alert in the wake of violent police riots that erupted Sept. 30. Elsewhere in Ecuador, the declaration of high alert was lifted Oct. 8.
