EIB to Maintain 2010 Lending Target

The European Investment Bank will keep its lending target at 70 billion euros ($99.8 billion) in 2010, EIB President Philippe Maystadt told Italy's Il Sole 24 Ore. The bank also increased its lending budget this year to 70 billion euros, up from 57 billion euros in 2008 due to the global economic slump, Maystadt added. "I can already say we are ready, if necessary, to maintain this level in 2010 too," the EIB chief was quoted by Reuters as saying.
