Ethiopia has denied claims that a rebel group has taken control of a gas field in Ogaden. The gas field is being explored by Malaysian state oil firm Petronas and Vancouver-based Africa Oil Corp. The Ogaden National Liberation Front said in a statement that it is “now in control of the Hilala field in Eastern Ogaden.” The group is “simply fabricating stories,” Ethiopian government head of information, Bereket Simon, told Reuters.
