Ethiopia to receive $50M from the UNDP

The United Nations Development Program is granting $50 million to strengthen Ethiopia’s democratic governance institutions. Under the aid accord, the funds will be used to support the Democratic Institutions Program (DIP), which would involve the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission, the Federal Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, the House of Federation, the Ethiopian Institute of Ombudsmen, the House of People?s Representatives and Regional Councils, and the National Election Board of Ethiopia. The DIP, a five-year program funded by different donor agencies, aims to strengthen the capacity of Ethiopia’s democratic governance institutions, enabling them to execute their responsibilities more efficiently.
