EU Announces Humanitarian Aid for Asia, Africa, Latin America

The European Commission has allotted 375.35 million euros (USD510 million) to support humanitarian operations in Africa, Asia and Latin America.

The funding, which is managed by the commission’s humanitarian aid department, will benefit Sudan; the Middle East; Congo; Afghanistan; Chad; the Sahel region; Myanmar and Burmese refugees in Thailand; Burundi and its refugees in Tanzania; Colombia; the Central African Republic; and the Philippines.

Some 15 million euros has also been allocated for capacity-building programs of United Nations agencies and international organizations.
