The European Commission plans to give USD712 million between 2008 and 2010 to rebuild war-torn Georgia. The aid package “includes the continuation of the normal program for Georgia, assistance for displaced people, reconstruction, relaunching the economy, macro-financial stability plus new infrastructure, especially in the energy sector,” said Christiane Hohmann, spokeswoman for EU External Relations Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner.
