EU, Thailand Talk SE Asian Humanitarian Issues

European aid and international cooperation commissioner Kristalina Georgieva met with visiting Thai Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya in Brussels on June 22. The two officials discussed various humanitarian issues in Southeast Asia, including Thailand’s role in boosting the region’s disaster preparedness capacity.

The humanitarian situation in nine Myanmar refugees’ camps in Thailand was also addressed during the meeting. Georgieva expressed the European Union’s support for efforts of Thai authorities to find sustainable solutions for these refugees.
