The European Commission is providing euro20 million (USD27.27 million) worth of humanitarian and food aid to the most vulnerable sectors in the Sahel region, where up to 3 million people are urgently in need of assistance.

The aid is in addition to the euro20 million that the commission has already allocated in response to the worsening hunger crisis in the region, which covers Niger, Chad, Nigeria, Burkina Faso and parts of Mali and Cameroon.
