Ex-Spanish Mayor Nominated as UN Urban Housing Agency Chief

United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon nominated a former mayor of Barcelona to head the U.N. Human Settlements Program, or UN-HABITAT.

If elected by the U.N. General Assembly, Joan Clos of Spain will serve as executive director of UN-HABITAT - tasked to promote environmentally and socially sustainable cities and towns - with a four-year term that starts Oct. 18.
