Four More Months for UN Mission in Nepal

Owing to the growing conflict between the government and the Maoist faction, the United Nations has decided to extend its peace mission in Nepal until Sept. 15.

Karin Landgren, U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s representative in the country, warned of the risks should the groups fail to discuss and resolve their differences.

Part of the mission’s tasks is the drafting of Nepal’s constitution and “resolving the future” of the government and Maoist armies.
