A court in Paris has sentenced six charity workers belonging to aid organization Zoe’s Ark to eight years in prison. They claimed they intended to bring 103 orphans from the war-torn Sudanese region of Darfur to France. However, most of the children turned out still to have living family members and many in fact came from Chad. There the six French aid workers were convicted of attempted kidnapping and sentenced to eight years hard labor and a fine of EUR 6 million. They were then extradited to France. (Radio Netherlands)
