Ahead of next year’s French presidential poll, Socialist and National Front candidates claimed victory in regional elections on Sunday (March 27). The regional polls, which were seen as a test of voter mood in the run-up to the presidential election, were meant to elect representatives of France’s cantons, who will lead the general councils of the country’s departments, The Wall Street Journal reports.
