France Backs Yemeni Electricity Project

Yemen will benefit from a grant of 37.5 million euros (USD45 million) from the French Development Agency, or AFD, for a rural electricity project. The grant will help to fund an electricity distribution network and improve electricity generating capacity in rural areas, Saba reports.

Meanwhile, representatives of the Islamic Development Bank met with the governor of Sa’ada, Yemen, Taha Hajer. The bank’s delegation said IsDB will implement development and reconstruction projects in the province, according to Saba. The Sa’ada Reconstruction Fund, in partnership with IsDB, will carry out immediate reconstruction programs in the sectors of education and health, as well as the rehabilitation of homes, farms and public facilities, said the fund’s executive director, Mohamed Thabit.
