Gates Backs Research on Sleeping Sickness

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation awarded a USD3 million grant to the University of Glasgow to support the development of new models of testing drugs for sleeping sickness, the New Vision reports. The disease, which is spread by tsetse flies, is common in Africa, where it claims up to 50,000 people annually.
