For the second time this week, Bill Gates cast loose some of his wealth to protect children from health risks. Early this week, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation made a whopping $750 million contribution to the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization. This time around, Bill Gates? philanthropic venture shifted to the United Nations. The world body publicized that the Gates family entrusted $10 million in its hands to produce a new vaccine that could expunge all traces of polio around the world by the end of this year. The World Health Organization and the Unicef will team up to unveil the new vaccine in Egypt come May. The North African country currently hosts a particular strain of polio that has proven to resist the strength of available vaccines.
